All resources are provided free of charge.Phraseandidiomsenglishtobanglapdffree was created by Somsak Panyachart – a dedicated English teacher – who wanted to make studying English easier for Thai students through providing them with high-quality materials to read and practice their reading abilities. It is the first and so far only online English dictionary in Thailand. It aims to be a useful resource for Thai students and English teachers. The online dictionary provides students with the opportunity to improve their vocabulary as well as improve their reading and editing skills. It also offers opportunities for teachers to practice their reading abilities, let alone the daily conversations they will have with students after classes end. Somsak has been working on this project for four years. He collects all of his resources from other websites and combines them into one site where he presents them in an easy-to-read format with a dictionary box at the bottom of each page. Somsak explains that the key word to a successful website is “search”. By including a dictionary box at the bottom of each page, the user can easily look up any word they desire on site and avoid going to other websites where there is a chance they may have difficulties finding what they are looking for. In addition, users can choose from three different dictionaries: Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, Collins English Dictionary, and the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English. In an interview with English Thai Online Magazine, Somsak reveals that there is nothing he has not had to deal with when operating a website. From computer security to hacking, the site has come under many attacks. It is for this reason that he has had to change hosting sites many times. But despite this, he continues developing his website because the students and teachers love it so much. Apart from running phraeandidiomsenglishtobanglapdffree’s blog, Somsak also writes articles for other major news publications in Thailand including The Nation, Matichon Daily News and Prachathai Newspaper where he writes about English idioms and expressions.
